Meet Deborah Larson with “Redeeming Her” Podcast

Grief has a way of changing everything. When a parent loses a child, it can feel like life is forever fractured. In this powerful episode of the Redeeming Her podcast, co-host Deborah Larson shares her deeply personal story of walking through the unimaginable—losing her son, Jeremy—and finding the unshakable love of God in the midst of the pain. She shares how healing after losing a child is possible and necessary to honor your sweet child.

From the outside, Deborah has always been a strong, grounded woman of faith. But behind that strength is a journey marked by heartbreak, single motherhood, disappointment, and eventually, profound healing. This episode is a tender and vulnerable conversation about grief, trauma, and redemption.

Rebuilding After Loss

Deborah talks openly about the day she received the call that would change her life—the moment she learned her son, a decorated firefighter, had passed away. The days that followed were filled with sorrow, trauma responses, and waves of unexplainable pain.

But what carried her through wasn’t just resilience. It was her deep relationship with God, built through years of learning to trust Him in every season. In the podcast, she shares how she found comfort in God’s presence, even when words failed, and how she began to heal by letting herself feel. Healing after losing a child is the best way to honor your sweet baby by keeping them present in your daily life.

Stones of Remembrance

One of the most impactful parts of the conversation is Deborah’s mention of building a spiritual “altar of remembrance.” She recalls placing physical stones to mark answered prayers and moments of God’s faithfulness. This act became an anchor—reminding her of truth when emotions overwhelmed her.

This episode is the first in a three-part miniseries introducing the framework that helped Deborah through her loss:

  • Release: Allowing the pain to surface, not pushing it down.

  • Reframe: Seeing her story through the lens of God’s goodness.

  • Redeem: Believing that even in loss, God can bring beauty and purpose.

These words aren’t just themes—they’re steps toward wholeness for anyone carrying the weight of grief.
