The day my whole world Shattered...
On July 26, 2018, my son, Jeremy Stoke, laid his life down on the frontlines of the Carr Fire in Redding, California—a decorated firefighter of nearly 20 years. Jeremy was doing what he had always done—running toward danger so others could run to safety.
The day he died, the ground under my feet gave way. The world I knew split wide open. Nothing anyone said could lift the weight pressing against my chest.
In the raw, the tension between fear and faith, the Spirit of Truth met me. Not to erase my circumstance, or rush me to heal—but to sit with me in the devastation, and show me what still remained: Truth, Joy, and Love.
And in that humble space, I discovered that healing didn't mean letting go or leaving him behind. It meant letting Love anchor me as I walked forward, carrying his legacy, his spirit, and the story of a life laid down for love.
